‘Black Feather’ limited edition prints by Meg Hess

I’m so excited to share illustrator Meg Hess’ limited edition print collection ‘Black Feather’ with you.

This gorgeous collection of 8 prints was inspired by the feather’s ability to be both dramatic and fun (have you ever noticed how women take on a whole new persona when they wear them)?

I was so inspired that I got my (lucky) sister one for a Christmas/housewarming gift.  I was totally torn, but knew my sis would love any one of them so I went with the gorgeous creature with the opera glasses (the first one below).

There are 25 limited edition prints of each. To view the collection please visit Meg's website

My new life...business + baby

Hi all,

You could be forgiven for thinking that I’d fallen off the face of the earth if my blog/FB posts or twitter feed were anything go by. I’m happy to say that I didn’t, but I do have a legit excuse for my absence… his name’s Teddy and he’s my darling 3 ½ month old baby boy.

While I never really stopped working, today is officially my first day back in the office. I definitely have mixed emotions, but more than anything I’m excited to get back into the swing of things and figure out how to balance  my new life.  I’m so inspired by other mums who are running thriving businesses, enjoying their babies and husbands and still rocking a great look (just because you’re a mum, doesn’t mean you have to dress like one!).

There are a few blogs/websites that I love: Oh Joy, The Glow and A Cup of Jo, but I’d love to hear from you.  What or who inspires you?  Have you come across any great advice or resources that you simply must share?

If these walls could talk

Leave it to experiential designer and composer Sebastien Leon Agneessens to figure out how to make a residential building come alive with sound.

Three sonic sculptures that were presented at 100% Design in London, offered a lyrical first-look at the much larger architectural artwork that it anticipates with the opening of the NEF 163 residential tower in 2012. The Golden Horns, a title that conflates the musical instrument with Istanbul’s immortal harbor, comprise a series of brass pipes that will transform the building’s infrastructure and weave in and out of its 35 floors, carrying improvised compositions - a mixture of treated live sounds and prerecorded musical samples - from the building’s lobby to the observatory at its crown.

Inspired by the colorful pipes that dressed Renzo Piano’s Paris Pompidou Museum, Sebastien conceived a design that would use the tower’s piping structure as a musical instrument that would continually deliver subtle music and sonic poetry to its residents.

It makes regular apartment buildings feel rather run-of-the-mill doesn’t it?

Ads worth Spreading

What does advertising mean to you?

Let's face it, it used to be about getting as many people to buy your stuff as possible, but more and more it's become about spreading an idea and connecting with people. I don't know about you, but that feels way more exciting a proposition.

Today, TED Curator Chris Anderson announced the second cycle of Ads Worth Spreading  at the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s MIXX conference in New York.  Check out TED's blog to learn more about this initiative and how you can be a part of it.

In the meantime, check out the video below:

There’s an upside to the end of summer

And that upside is Fall fashion! I already have my wish list - do you? Here’s my plan - invest in a few key pieces (handbag, boots and coat) and buy up to the minute fashion at affordable prices that I can mix and match with the rest of my wardrobe.

Now we all know the usual suspects for these pieces (H&M, Zara and Target), but there’s a new kid coming to town – Joe Fresh. Founded by Joe Mimran (the man behind Club Monaco), this Canadian brand is coming Stateside & giving us American’s a chance to snap up their classic-with-a twist collections at insanely good prices.

If you can’t wait until the store opens, check out their brand new website (and if the voice sounds familiar, it’s because it was penned by our very own Mark Welsh.)

Happy shopping!
